Why is it a good idea to lose weight with your partner?

1. The commitment and follow-through factor

It's always easier to keep your agreements with yourself when you have the
same agreements with your partner. You can each act as a "conscience", who holds you accountable so you are more likely to be committed to success. You can also boost each other’s belief in success in spite of the negative judgements of any doubting friends or family.

2. The motivation and intrinsic reward factor

It’s good if you can share key motivators – for example, health concerns and fashion sense. For one couple, Tina and Graeme, these acted as built-in motivators for them which they could share in identifying the benefits of their goal to lose weight and to celebrate the outcome which is a healthy lifestyle, stylish wardrobe and fun in achieving both of these.
